Joyce McGee Brummet is a graduate student at California State University, Northridge with a literature focus. Her academic interests include 20th Century American Literature, pop culture and sci-fi, post-humanist theory, the digital humanities, and digital pedagogies. Her current scholarship explores how speculative or fantastical technology contributes to constructions of power and authority and boundaries of community in science fiction and fantasy. As the president of CSUN’s chapter of 4Humanities, 4Humanities@CSUN, Joyce works with her CSUN DH colleagues to engage CSUN’s students with the humanities via digital methods through workshops, presentations, and campus events. She teaches Freshman Composition as a Teaching Associate in the CSUN English Deptartment and is a Writing Consultant for the CSUN Learning Resource Center. After completion of her Master’s degree, she plans to continue to pursue a career as an educator. Joyce has worked on WE1S since the Summer of 2018 and is excited for what is to come.
