Interpretation Lab

Director: Dan C. Baciu

Welcome to the WE1S Interpretation Lab, which assists our project with methods of improving and assessing data interpretation. The lab draws on technical means (and the supporting research literature) to facilitate the reading of data models. High priorities include assisting with the interpretation of topic models and word embedding models. What and how do such models mean?

More specifically: How do we choose parameters to optimize our data models? What analysis and visualization methods then help us understand them better? How can we sequence machine-learning and human reading steps for maximum intelligibility of results? And can we assess our readings of data models to gain confidence in results? Finally, how can we make all these aspects of the data interpretation process transparent, open, and shareable?

These are the kinds of questions that the Interpretation Lab will take up as it complements the work of he WE1S project in corpus collection, data analysis, and research and advocacy outputs.

The WE1S Interpretation Lab is directed by Dan C. Baciu, a postdoctoral scholar with the WE1S project.
