sam goli

sam goli is a writer, musician, and graduate student in CSUN’s Master’s in English program, with an emphasis in Creative Writing. Their work has been published in Angel City Review and The Northridge Review and they are currently writing their Master’s thesis, a collection of short stories, which ruminates on the various forms of identity, ancestral/familial trauma, memory, and auto-theory. sam has interests in queer and gender studies, issues of trauma and healing that pertain to people of color, black and indigenous communities, language, and how all of these topics are theorized and represented in pop culture. In Fall 2019, they will take on their first class as a Teaching Associate of freshman writing. While at CSUN, sam has worked as the Assistant Managing Editor and later the Managing Editor of The Northridge Review, and has been awarded the Linda Nichols Joseph English Merit Scholarship. When they are not writing, they train for a 545-mile bicycle ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles, raising money to benefit the Los Angeles LGBT Center, which provides life-saving services for people living with HIV/AIDS. To date, they have raised over $21,000. Also, they love to play guitar and write music. Sometimes they perform around Los Angeles.
