Helen Foley is a UCSB class of 2020 graduate, who earned her BA in Economics and English. She joined the WE1S UCSB Students in the Humanities Team in January of 2020, and has also contributed to the Social Media Team alongside fellow Undergraduate Research Assistant Jessica Gang. Thanks to the research opportunities provided by WE1S as well as UCSB’s Arnhold Undergraduate Research Fellows program, Helen has discovered her passion for the digital humanities, and now hopes to continue her academic pursuits in graduate school! Her other research interests include digital poetics, particularly poetic practices on social media, and the future of reading and text. These interests are reflected in her senior honors thesis titled, “Instapoetry: An Ever-Changing, Community Based, Poetic Practice.”
